KING SOLOMON'S SINGERS

Dufay and the Dawn of the Renaissance is a musical exploration of the fascinating period at the intersection of Medieval and Renaissance times. The contradictions and artistic ferment of this period are represented most clearly in the works of the Franco-Flemish master Guillaume Dufay, and we will explore a range of his compositions, from raw and secular to refined and holy (and some that daringly mix the two). We will also perform works of Dufay's contemporaries, including a side trip to England to investigate the parallel development of "modern" polyphony in the Contenance Angloise.
